Zones 5-9 One of the best dwarf Japanese maples. Tiny star shaped leaves on a short, densely layered stems with compact rounded crown. The soft green 1-2 inch leaves turn brilliant red-orange and gold in the fall. Perfect for the smaller garden such as rock garden, train garden, and all small scale scenes. Needing little care Sharp’s grows well in containers for the patio, balcony or porch accent. Asking only for well drained soil, moderate water and filtered to full shade. Will take full sun in areas with cooler summers. In the ground or in a container easy to grow Sharp‘s Pygmy needs no pruning to keep it’s short stature of 3 feet at 10 years. First photo shows it’s spectacular fall color. Second photo shows untrimmed 6 year old plants guarding the mansion on our garden railroad. Shipping size 15-20+ inches. Crown starting to fill out.
