Shimpaku is easy to grow and train as a Bonsai. It takes well to trimming, shaping and doesn't mind being in a small (or large) container as long as it is kept moist with occasional light feeding. We recommend full sun to part shade. Shimpaku is best grown outdoors. It may be brought indoors for exhibit for 2-3 days then needs to return to fresh air outdoors. This particular plant is from a cutting started in 2016 has lived frozen in the winters to heat and drought from desertion during the forest fires surrounding Mini Forest in 2020 when we had to evacuate with no time to bring plants.
