Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Chirimen’ displays multiple textures and colors. It sends up many upright shoots eventually forming it’s own mini forest of tiny congested foliage. Each narrow, upright tree becomes a cluster of thick, upright shoots that resemble bottle-brushes, with both juvenile and mature foliage in shades of blue and green. Does best in average soil, kept moist with good drainage. Untrimmed grows to 12 - 20 inches at ten years. Rare seed cones form along trunk. Shipping size: single or double trunk, just starting to branch 6-10 inches. Chirimen was the 2011 NCS Collector’s Choice conifer. MINIATURE . Requires excellent drainage.
